Do you need a temporary health insurance?
Receiving income in the Netherlands? You are obligated to have a Dutch basic health insurance. The starting date of your insurance is the same date you started work.
If you arrive in the Netherlands, before your employment contract starts and you are a non-EU citizen, you will need temporary health insurance.
The startdate of the Dutch basic health insurance for family members is the same day as they registered at the municipality and received the BSN and residence permit. So they need a temporary health insurance for the first period in the Netherlands.
International Insurances can help you with this. You can apply for the Masterplan+ with insurance company Insure To Study.
My BSN or residence permit is delayed
When it takes longer to receive your BSN and residence permit, you can always extend your insurance.
My Dutch basic health insurance is active
As soon as your Dutch basic health insurance is active we can end the private insurance Masterplan+ from the same day as your Dutch basic health insurance started. Please send us your policy.
I am from Europe and have EHIC
Are you from Europe and have an EHIC, which is still valid and active? Then a temporary health insurance is not necessary.
Start date of your temporary private insurance
You can start the insurance from the day you leave your country to fly to the Netherlands. You can apply for one or two months.
